As an Aging Unit Professional, every day you likely work with “family caregivers". The Administration for Community Living defines a "family caregiver [as] an unpaid individual (such as a spouse, partner, family member, friend, or neighbor) who assists a person with a chronic illness, disability, or other long-term care needs and any grandparent or relative adults who have primary responsibility for grandchildren or other children who cannot remain with their parents." We can help you support informal caregivers with information, assistance, and resources through several programs, including the Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Program (AFCSP) and the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP). Please see below and also consider sharing the WisconsinCaregiver.Org site; here you will find free and low-cost telephonic, online, and virtual events. Also, check out the Resources page for specific caregiver needs.

FREE! TRUALTA is a personalized, skills-based education platform for family caregivers, designed to help people confidently care for aging or disabled loved ones at home. It provides on-demand training, practical techniques, and emotional support resources that caregivers can access anytime. Please encourage the caregivers you work with to register for free.
