Get information and assistance on issues related to adult guardianship, protective placement, advance directives, and more from the Wisconsin Guardianship Support Center (GSC). Operated by GWAAR, the GSC responds to requests for information through a toll-free helpline or by e-mail. Calls are returned in the order in which they are received. Please note the Guardianship Support Center is required to be a neutral information source. We are unable to provide legal advice or offer direct representation. If you would like specific legal advice, please consult an attorney.
Please note: we are unable to answer questions about minor guardianship.
We can help with questions like:
• How do I petition for guardianship?
• How can I make a power of attorney?
• What are my responsibilities as a guardian?
As of January 1, 2023, all new family/volunteer guardians, as well as standby and successor guardians, must receive training before they can be appointed. The training is free and online on demand through UW-Green Bay, and is available through their website. Resource sheets on guardian training are now available in English and Spanish. For paper copies, contact UW-Green Bay.
For technical support, including issues with the certificate of completion, please contact the UW-Green Bay team directly at (920) 465-2691.
If you’d like to get our quarterly electronic newsletter, The Guardian, fill out our newsletter contact form or contact us at email@example.com and request to be placed on the electronic mailing list. Previous issues can be found below.
