Aging Advocacy Day 2024

The Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network (WAAN) held our 8th Annual Aging Advocacy Day (AAD) 2024 event in Madison on Tuesday, May 14, 2024

Nearly 200 Advocates Participated in
Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Day 2024

The Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network’s 8th annual Aging Advocacy Day was a great success! On May 14, nearly 200 advocates from across the state participated in Aging Advocacy Day to meet with their legislators and lift up five budget priorities for the 2025 – 2027 state budget.

The priorities included:

  • Investing in Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs),
  • Caring for Wisconsin’s Caregivers,
  • Safeguarding Nutrition Supports,
  • Reducing Falls Among Older Wisconsinites, and
  • Supporting Increased Funding for Specialized Transportation

Thank you to the sponsors, attendees, and volunteers of WIAAD 2024! Your support and participation was appreciated! A special thank you to those who shared their personal stories and helped legislators understand how specific policy issues and proposals impact individuals, families, and older constituents.

This training is open to anyone who is planning to host, or is interested in hosting, an In-District Aging Advocacy Day event in the coming months. This training will provide information on what these events are, how to plan and execute a successful event, inviting legislators, and outreaching to potential attendees.

If you are unsure if you will host a training, you can still attend this meeting to see if this is the right opportunity for you and your organization. In-District Aging Advocacy Day events bring together State legislators, aging advocates, and aging network partners in their home community to discuss crucial policy priorities.
